Mom, Bert, Liz and I were going to go out on La Tishie Mae out this afternoon when the wind picked up something fierce. all we had really wanted to do was have a few beers in the harbor, so instead of risking our lives in wicked weather (F6-F7 winds, whatever that means), we went…

i have a report from Uncle Bert and Skipper Phil (sorry, i know he's a distinguished master yachtsman and capitain, but only one can have that title on this boat) that La Tishie Mae's new main sail is "bee-u-ti-ful!". i never knew a sail could have so many alluring properties: boom-raising, grommets, wind-taking, baffles, and…

Uncle Bert sailed La Tishie Mae back into Port Vaubon last night, at least temporarily, so we could go for our habitual dinner out at Da Cito…Liz (who lives just round the corner) joined us for some funny stories of Captaine Pat's sailing adventures, Uncle Bert's solitary survival in Baie des Anges and my cleaning…

after all of last week's social outings and frankly, a touch of laziness or heat-lethargy, i've been occupied with a number of paintings this week…four completed, two more in progress…but can't put them up of course until mom returns with the digital camera (please god let her not have dropped it in the sea)… speaking…

just got word from Mom that she has successfully completed her week's women-only sailing course in Maine and is back in familiar lands (Chicago) today..she loved the course! "I've never laughed so hard in my life" she says, sounds like she really hit it off with the captain and crew…there were no other students booked…

mom tries on her new foul-weather gear in preparation for her week-long women-only sailing course with SeaSense. she leaves for the USA next Wednesday, starts her "cruise" on the 16th departing from Maine (hence the intense gear). she's hoping to find her inner-sailing-bitch. i've never seen anyone so excited to put on a Santa costume…

it's a grainy newspaper photo, but see that fellow (dark shirt, folded arms, white cap) second from right? that's Bert! witness to last nights' flying rental boat disaster! that large motor boat (crashed on top of the other two boats!) can be rented by anyone, experienced or not, sober or not, and taken out to…
